What is a Lifestyle Spending Account (LSA)?

Lifestyle Spending Accounts (LSA) are an employer-funded benefit that gives employees a set amount of money for personal wellness and lifestyle expenses.

When does the LSA start?

We are implementing the LSA for employees effective 01/01/2026. Current employees can expect to receive an email from WEX regarding their access by the week of January 12.

New hires can expect to receive an email within their first month of employment. New hires will receive a prorated amount in the quarter following their hire date. For example, if you’re hired in February, your contribution will be added in April.

How much will I receive from GreenState into my LSA?

Annually, Full-Time employees will receive $200 and Part-Time employees will receive $100. Seasonal employees are not eligible at this time. Additionally, employees who reach a milestone anniversary (1 year, 3 years, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, forward) will receive an additional contribution during their anniversary month.

What is a milestone anniversary?

As part of our commitment to recognizing long-term service, employees who reach milestone anniversaries with GreenState will receive an additional contribution to their LSA during their anniversary month. These milestones include year 1, 3, 5 years, and every 5 years following. You will receive details about the amount and contribution date at the time of your milestone anniversary.

How to I access my LSA?

The LSA is a reimbursement-only benefit. You will access this account by logging onto WEX. Please do not attempt to create an account before you receive your initial enrollment email. WEX also offers a mobile app that you can download to your device to check your balance or upload receipts for reimbursement.

Can I contribute to the account?

No, the LSA is an employer-funded account. Employees cannot contribute to the LSA.

Is this account mine forever?

No, if your employment ends with GreenState, any unused funds are forfeited as of your last day of employment.

What can I submit expenses for?

Here is a more comprehensive list of eligible expenses. Please reach out if you have questions on what qualifies.

Do I have to use the funds by the end of the year?

No, you do not. You can allow the funds to rollover year after year. For example, if you receive $200 January 2025, you can wait and allow that balance to accumulate to $400 when you receive another $200 next January. This can allow for you to plan for larger reimbursements of future expenses.

Can I submit for reimbursement for something I bought last year?

No, the expense being reimbursed must be something you purchased the year you are making the request. For example, you cannot request reimbursement in 2027 for something purchased in 2026.

Can I submit for partial reimbursement of an expense?

Yes. For example, if you buy a new treadmill this year and your LSA has a $200 balance, you can submit to be reimbursed for $200 of that purchase.

Will this benefit take place of the existing Student Loan Interest Reimbursement?

We will continue our annual Student Loan Interest Reimbursement program. Please note, this takes place between February and March each year.

You can use your LSA funds for reimbursement of payments made to the principal balance of your student loan. Please ensure that the receipt you submit highlights the principal balance paid to be reimbursed.

Can I use this to purchase plane tickets? Gym Membership? Walking pad? Golf lessons?

Yes, yes, yes, and yes! These are some example questions we have received so far. Travel expenses, athletic/wellness expenses, are all eligible for reimbursement through the LSA. Wonder if something is eligible, reach out
